Americans have watched MAGA Republicans continue working to silence the will of voters by changing the rules, harassing election administrators, and spreading lies and conspiracy theories. With the next January 6 Committee hearing just around the corner, it’s clear that the American people are paying close attention to Trump and his allies’ ongoing plot to overturn election results and threaten our democracy.
Polling Indicates Broad Concern About Preserving Democracy
Marist/NPR Poll Finds That Preserving Democracy Is A Top Priority Among Voters. “Almost 4 in 10 (37%) said inflation was top of mind, followed by preserving democracy (27%), abortion (13%), immigration (10%), and health care (10%). For Democrats, preserving democracy (32%) topped abortion (21%)… For independents, it was inflation (38%), followed by preserving democracy (33%) and then immigration (12%).” [NPR/Marist, 10/6/22]
Siena College/Spectrum News Poll Reveals New York Voters Name Threats To Our Democracy As A Top Priority. “According to the poll, 52% of voters said economic issues are one of their top two issues when deciding who to vote for in November. About 34% said it was number one. AARP Poll Finds that Older Americans Are Focused on Threats to Democracy. “The poll found that threats to democracy and voting rights topped the list when older women were asked to list the most important issues in the race, with both issues being listed by 48 percent of respondents… ’threats to democracy and voting rights are very much top-tier,’ Margie Omero, principal at GBAO, another polling firm, said in a statement.” [AARP, 10/5/22]

NBC/Telemundo Poll Demonstrates Latino Voters Prioritize Threats to Democracy As One of the Most Important Issues Facing the Country. “On the issues, Latino voters believe Democrats do a better job handling abortion (by a 50% to 23% margin), addressing concerns of the Hispanic community (49%-23%), protecting democracy (48%-28%) and on health care (46%-21%).
