Voters also overwhelmingly believe Trump should testify under oath by a 36-point margin

Washington, DC – Defend Democracy Project and Public Policy Polling conducted polls across the states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, to gauge voters’ opinions on MAGA Republicans’ ongoing threat to overturn and interfere with our elections and the revelations of the January 6th Committee’s final public hearing. Today’s poll showed voters across the country know of the danger MAGA Republicans pose to our right to choose our own leaders and see it as a major threat. Voters in battleground states also overwhelmingly want Trump to testify under oath to the January 6th Committee.

“Despite MAGA Republicans following their 2020 election-stealing playbook to interfere with this year’s midterm elections and ramping up their attacks daily, voters want to hear the truth about Trump’s attempt to overturn an election he knew he lost, straight from the man himself,” said Defend Democracy Project Communications Director, Nicole Haley. “Meanwhile, election deniers are threatening and harassing poll workers, filing baseless lawsuits to get mail-in and early voting canceled across the country, and are prepared to lie, contest election results, and incite violence when they lose. MAGA Republicans are a clear and present danger to our most fundamental rights.”

Across all eight states polled, voters demonstrated they were deeply concerned about Donald Trump and his MAGA followers’ efforts to undermine our elections.

The poll also showed:

  • 62% of voters think Donald Trump should testify under oath before the January 6th Committee.
  • 82% say that politicians changing the rules of voting to benefit their party is a major threat.
  • 69% say politicians who knowingly lie and spread conspiracies to undermine election results are a major threat.
  • 61% say voter suppression and intimidation are major threats.
  • More than half say politicians refusing to accept the results of elections they lose is a major threat.
