Washington, D.C. – Weeks after the January 6th Select Committee finished its work, the American people haven’t moved on. According to a new Navigator survey, over 60 percent of Americans support the work of the committee, including a plurality of non-MAGA Republicans. Almost 60 percent of Americans, including a majority of Independents, believe Trump committed crimes as president and they want him held accountable including by having criminal charges filed against him by the DOJ. Defend Democracy Project co-chair Brad Woodhouse released the following statement:
“The American people continue to make clear that they want justice for the attack on our Capitol and our country. The new House Republican majority, full of election deniers and insurrection supporters, is hellbent on sweeping everything under the rug, but Donald Trump and his MAGA allies must be held accountable for their roles in the violent conspiracy. Threats to our democracy continue around the country and we have to make clear that nobody is above the law in this country.”
