Washington, DC – Today, Defend Democracy Project and Public Policy Polling released new polling results that find overwhelming evidence that voters in Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina support the investigation by the January 6th Select Committee investigation.

“The House Select Committee investigation has proven with overwhelming evidence that Trump and MAGA Republicans planned, promoted, and paid for a violent criminal conspiracy to overturn the election results and harm the will of the people. It is clear the American people know this too,” said Defend Democracy Project Communications Director, Nicole Haley. “Donald Trump and his allies must be held accountable for their actions in the courts and at the ballot box to put a stop to further behavior that impacts our right to choose who leads us.”

The threat against our country did not end after January 6th. MAGA Republicans, election deniers, and conspiracy theorists continue winning primary elections across the country, where they want to rewrite the laws to take away our right to choose our own leaders at any cost.

In North Carolina, a majority of voters support the investigation by the Select Committee and consider the work the committee is doing to be important.  Over half of voters are concerned with Republican Senate candidate Ted Budd’s vote to overturn the results of the 2020 election, including 56% of independents.

In Nevada, a majority of Nevadans support the investigation and a further 50% consider the investigation to be very important when it comes to protecting democracy. Over half of voters are concerned with Republican Senate candidate Adam Laxalt’s denial of the 2020 election and his spreading of conspiracy theories.

In Georgia, the poll results also find that a majority of voters believe the investigation and its findings are important. 56% of Georgian voters are also concerned with Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker continuing to deny the outcome of the 2020 election and advocating for states like Georgia to re-vote and jail election administrators, including 55% of independents surveyed.
